The Middle Class

parliament-08_3320062bIn the days of America’s greatness there was a common notion that supported, comforted, inspired and unified the population.  The notion of “the middle class” was a poorly defined title for working people and families who lived all across the nation in urban, suburban, and rural areas and shared this distinction that was open to practically anyone.  To be in the middle class was easy and it was an honor to be part of masses that comprised the world’s greatest society. The rich and poor were secluded elsewhere and generally not a part of the middle class due to circumstances beyond their control.  The middle class was vast and there was room for people who may have been poor, but worked hard to sustain a living even though they may have occasionally received help. Also, there were those who had quite a bit of money, but they too worked and chose to live among ordinary people in the heart of the American society.

Could we see a resurgence of the middle class?  In recent years, the enemy’s of America have sought to tear down the middle class along with the family and church that were integral to it.  These enemies take offense at unity, work and anything related to Judeo/Christian faith, in order to promote a new fascist Humanism.  Every perversion is honored and a wide array of their constituents are proclaimed victims of the traditional American way of life.  They bring division, sectarianism, complaining malcontents and a never ending attack on traditional values in the fascist media, suggesting that all Americans should now welcome a new humanistic socialism.  In fact, contrary to these liars, the vast majority of Americans prefer traditional American values.  All the fragmented dissident groups promote their identity politics, but offer only blame instead of solutions to everyday problems.

The rising middle class can retake the center stage of American society and return unity to a fragmented national perspective because the fascist media only paint a picture of what they want and it is a mirage and false notion.  The substance remains in families and in people of faith.  Even with all the curses over men and accusations against fathers, hope remains for men who will take a stand, humble themselves, and take up the mantle of fatherhood that God has ordained to them alone.  “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (Chron. 7: 14).

In God’s society the most severe penalty was reserved for liars.  “The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against a fellow Israelite, then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party.  You must purge the evil from among you.  The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you. Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.” (Deut. 19: 18-21).  Yeshua spoke very clearly about those who only pretended to believe the truth.  “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8: 44).

Our hope is in Yeshua’s prayer,  “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are oneI in them and you in meso that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17: 20-23).

Yeshua’s Speech

jesus-ascensionWhy do people find Yeshua’s words and speech difficult to understand? For us two thousand years later, one could say it is because of differences in time, language, and custom, but that doesn’t explain it.  The events, stories, and dialog within the narrative is understandable in its context. No, what tends to puzzle those who heard at that time, confounds us as well.  In fact, Yeshua seems often to address issues or matters that are somewhat separate from what follows in the event.  For example, Yeshua has a discussion with a Samaritan woman where He speaks to her

Doomed to Repetition

john-10-27-28We are all alike, there is no man who has been any better than another; all our distinctions are meaningless attempts to establish a figment of independence.  All religions were created by men trying to be accepted by God, but these are futile.  Even God’s own law given to Moses was insufficient because men are all the same down through history.

However, God came to earth as a man, Yeshua, the Messiah that had been prophesied thousands of years earlier.  He came to break the curse over men, releasing mankind from their bondage of rebellion and evil. Yeshua proved He was

Mercy and Forgiveness

007-unforgiving-servant.jpg“As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for cleansing; you were not rubbed with salt or even wrapped in cloths.  No eye looked with pity on you to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you.  Rather you were thrown out into the open field, for you were abhorred on the day you were born.  When I passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!’  Yes, I

Hurricane Prayer

jesus-calms-the-storm.jpgMatthew 21:22 reminds us that if we ask believing we will receive whatever we ask.  This, of course, assumes we are asking through the leading of the Holy Spirit in accordance with God’s will but God is able to answer any prayer. Further, He is sovereign over all including storms (Mark 4:39).  In thinking about that, below is a prayer I am offering up to spare the people of the East Coast from Hurricane Florence that is bearing down upon them:

Faith With Effect

jesus-robe.jpgShe had been sick for twelve years, but she believed that touching Yeshua’s garment would bring healing.  “Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said, ‘your faith has healed you.’  And the woman was healed at that moment.” (Matt. 9: 20-22).  A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there.  As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears.  Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.  “Jesus said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’ ” (Luke 7: 37-50).

“Two blind men followed Jesus and cried out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’  He asked them if they believed that He was able to do it and they replied, ‘Yes.’  Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your faith let it be done to you.’ ” (Matt. 9: 27-29).  “Traveling to Jerusalem, Yeshua met

National Catastrophe

UnknownI’m hearing a lot about potential catastrophic events that seem imminent and serious. First, I heard sometime ago that our entire water, food, financial, communication, and energy infrastructure could be permanently disabled by a cyber attack or an EMP, (electro magnetic pulse).  It is estimated that this catastrophe would result in the death of 90% of the US population within one year.  The second catastrophe I heard was of a large volcanic crevasse which opened in the Yellowstone National Park that is indicative of an eruption of a massive volcano under Yellowstone.  This volcanic area is the largest in the nation and would make the explosion of Mt. Saint Helens seem

Behind The Curtain

maxresdefaultI woke up this morning like most other days thinking about things.  After a while, I set aside all thinking and chose to listen through the Spirit, rather than think.  The doorway to Spirit listening was the truth that God is in control of everything that concerns me.  Put another way, everything I was thinking about was in God’s hands, therefore, analysis, evaluation, comparison, sorting or considering things in my mind was not necessary.  As I asserted this truth, my mind was cleared and my Spirit was opened in submission and surrender to God’s will.  With a mind set free, the first thing I heard brought a tear to my eye – God loves me – though not in those words.  That is the distinguishing

Her two year old sister watches everything her older sisters do.  So, when I asked  Carley to come with me to put some ointment on the bite, her sister marched right behind her. After I rubbed a little alcohol on Carley’s shoulder, the two year old turned her shoulder towards me so she could have it put on her as well.  It didn’t matter to our two year old what facts, background or cause proceeded a gift, she wanted exactly what everyone else

The 5:17 to Paris

636535407591818133-PAR-08898rWe watched an outstanding movie entitled “The 5:17 to Paris.”  You might recall the three young Americans who thwarted a terrorist massacre on a train in France.  This is their story and even includes the actual men portraying themselves.  Movies based on true events seem to be those we enjoy most – the saying, “truth is stranger than fiction”, proves true.  Amazingly, this story includes much more than the action, suspense, and heroism you would expect. In the real world people like you and I have imperfections and failings that cause us to be unfit for Hollywood, but Clint Eastwood, who made

Whom God Regards

Lk14.10We Americans are independent and big thinkers.  The concept of equality inspires the individual to believe anyone can be great.  We tell our children that they can grow up to be President.  We encourage them to think big and become all they can be.  We may admonish them to work and study hard. However, do we warn them against seeking riches, fame, and power as does the world?  For Believers pleasing God should be our highest goal, but how is this achieved through independence and self-determination?  Have we subtly sought things or status, rather than virtue, peace, love and

The Unseen World

harrowing-of-hellWhat if there were things around us that we cannot see, yet bear heavily upon our lives? What if we were not the masters of our own fate, as it so often seems?  Is there a spiritual realm that consists of more than mythology, ghost stories, and fantasy?  Are we aware of the spiritual warfare that takes place around us? What other unseen doors of opportunity have we failed to perceive?  The Bible talks about the Spirit and spiritual realms of heaven and hades, (the place of the dead), but how do spiritual things concern

The Miraculous Hinderance

20140329_BRP010_0I listened to a famous profligate denouncing Christianity to a Believer.  His audience eagerly urged him on as he ridiculed religion, but most specifically Christianity.  His accusations were made as unquestionable fact and his condescending air portrayed a pride for reason and contempt for faith.  He stated that all evil was rooted in religion, offering Islamic terrorism as an example.  The Believer rebutted this stating that Atheistic Communists have committed far more torture, murder and genocide than others.  Caught in his lie the crude host began to ridicule miracles.  The last statement I could endure was, “Nothing is more ludicrous than the Virgin birth.”  Faith requires that we exceed the limits of human rationalism.  The scientific

Why Join a Church

Northside-65-crowdMany believers ask this question.  They do so because they see no benefit or reason in it. There are reasons for work and for play, for attending weddings and funerals, even for going to church on certain religious holidays, but joining a church seems to make very little sense to many in our day.  Does the church bear any responsibility for this looming uncertainty?  Is it a generational issue, where churches are organized by and for the waning generations?  Has the church become an organization like others with programs, promotions, events, and functions

Perspective

jw_12A bird has a sense of equilibrium in their head that enables the bird to maintain its head in a fixed position irrespective of the bird’s body, wings, tail and feet.  This is necessary as the bird flies by moving and positioning it’s wings and tail separately. We are made to travel with feet fixed to the ground, so our equilibrium is referenced to the ground rather than the air.  Of course we can fly, swim, dive, roll, climb and move in almost any manner with the devices and instrumentation that we have invented.  We were made by God to rule over all the creatures of the earth.  The animals have a distinct fear of man accordingly.  There is no animal that lives off humans as its prey. Liberty

shutterstock_56386615Liberty is that state of freedom in which a person may harness his destiny in God’s providence or wreck himself upon the rocks of self-centerness.  It was Yeshua who bought freedom for Mankind by His shed blood on the cross.  “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Gal.  5: 1).  The Pilgrims left Europe seeking a country where they could worship God in freedom, free from persecution and doctrines of men.  They came to America by His grace and favor.  This foundation of religious freedom is the first principle in our Constitution and clear in the declaration of

Your God

UnknownOne after another young women scream, “Oh my God,” when they see their redesigned house on the various house “fixer up” TV shows.  It’s likely just an expression without any real meaning, but it points to a portrayal of God that is becoming more common place on TV, an Idol god.  Pagans in Bible times and today worship idols and false gods in order to motivate their god to help them win victory over others, amass plunder or get what they want.  Their idolatry is based on what their god can do for them.  The world seeks fame, wealth, power, and pleasure.  It always has and will until the King of Kings returns and establishes God’s Kingdom and rule.  Until that time it is important to recognize and understand the world

The Peace of God

John-14-271“Peace I leave with you; my peace I leave you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:27.  This passage was Jesus comforting His disciples right before he was to be crucified and leave them.  Not only was he leaving them “peace” but His peace that originates with Him.  It is a gift given to all Christians in any circumstances they may face and is sure unlike the peace the world promises which will ultimately fail.  Therefore, a Believer never has a reason to be troubled or afraid as God is sovereign over all the circumstances of his (her) life. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have Continue reading “The Peace of God”

A View of the Heart

samuel-david-300x194But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The Lord does not look at the things we do.  People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16: 7).  People consider what they can see on the outside, they judge by looks with their eyes.  They say, “Seeing is believing,” but their eyes are easily deceived and the outer appearance is not a true reflection of the person’s heart.  We say, “A book is not judged by its cover,”  because it is the story within that

Awe and Fear

Jesus-Good-Shepherd-guides-meThey were leaders in the church and community, from respected families, married to prominent people, doctors and leaders themselves in the church, but they were committed to fraud.  They found a place secluded, hidden and were having adulterous homosexual sex.  Months later after everything had been settled, resignations accepted, families wrecked in divorce, reputations ruined, without any acknowledgement of wrong, remorse or repentance, the exposure of providence was explained.

He was driving along the interstate highway for an overnight business trip in a distant city.  He began to have a strong impression that he should take the next exit.  Nothing seemed wrong with the car, there was plenty of gas, but the sense was increasing and now seemed urgent.  A rest stop was just ahead, so he exited

Abide in Christ

Large bunches of ripe black grapes on vine“Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:4-6.

A vine provides the water and nutrients by which fruit is produced.  Without the vine, no fruit could ever result.  The key to living a fruitful Christian life is for the branches (Christians) to abide in Christ, the vine.  The word “abide” means Continue reading “Abide in Christ”

Spiritual Exercise

maxresdefaultytiI was waiting on the waffle iron to get hot, as I was waiting on my wife to get up, while waiting one hour before eating, after taking my medication.  It was a perfect time to meditate on the Lord, so I began with His attributes: love, abundance, faithfulness, mercy, justice, wisdom and knowledge.  My thought was to pick just one, but each one was deep enough for hours.  I settled on one, mercy, because it is my constant prayer to Him.  Today, I saw that everything we experience is God’s mercy, even things we consider a trial or difficulty, or even an inconvenience like waiting.  It is God’s mercy

The Value of Instruction

Proverbs_9-10Someone in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” Yeshua replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.’ ”    (Luke 11: 27-28). The Angel told Mary, Yeshua’s mother, she was blessed, but hearing and obeying the word of God is the imperative.  “Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.” (Prov. 8: 10-11). Not So Sweet Dreams

6c90bc8e691dcbdd9ddcf76c244d920aI woke up exhausted this morning, not because I didn’t get enough sleep or was awakened during the night, but by the dream I had.  It was a very detailed story of business and investment in a flower growing venture.  Everyone I knew was in this business and had gathered considerable wealth as a consequence. However, a fungus or mold had been attacking the crops lately with devastating effect.  It was discovered that a mere foot print or touch near the growing plant could set loose the pathogen and killing disease.  There was much more to the dream, but that is the gist.

I’m perplexed as to why such a dream would leave me so exhausted.  Turning to the Word of God, I read, “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding
