Distinctions

“…put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” (Colossians 3:10-11)

In the family of God there is no national origin, distinction of religious practice, ethnicity, nor social/economic position, but Messiah Yeshua is all and in all. How far we have come away from this message and observed reality in the body of Yeshua. In the first century the Roman world was comprised of too many distinctions to list including actual human slaves, who had come to faith. Today, various distinctions are being promoted to the highest level of importance, certain chosen pronouns are commanded to be used and preferences are awarded based on political power in a pecking order of identity politics. Even many worldly churches accept these social edicts and practices, while rejecting clear scripture. Believers can not be a friend with the world systems and also be a friend of God. (James 4:4)

Scripture describes one important distinction – Believers and unbelievers. The Congregation of Believers is to be separate from the world, living in the world but not of the world. (1 John 2:15) We certainly associate with all people, but we should not have close fellowship with unbelievers, because Messiah Yeshua is all and in all. There is no common ground and we can not compromise with worldly ideas, practices and principles. (2 Cor. 6:14-17) We share and witness how good God has been and the Gospel of Messiah Yeshua. However, worldly society, particularly in many American cities, has become opposed to the God of the Bible in schools, libraries, businesses, and local government. Christianity is tolerated, but it is not accepted and persecution has already starting in the courts, media, and government. We are not of this world, if we were, the world would love us, but it is opposed to us and God Almighty. (John 15:19)

While various groups vie for power and position, the Congregation of Believers are dropping distinctions and being renewed in the knowledge and image of our Creator. Yeshua is exalted to the highest level and He is everything. While the world is passing away and in decline, the Congregation of Believers is growing and being purified and clothed as a spotless bride for the bridegroom, our Messiah. This is the work of the Holy Spirit and it is marvelous in our eyes.
