In today’s Cancel Culture environment, individuals and organizations intentionally seek out others with whom they disagree. Trolls continuously search the web, television and radio for their next prey. Once they find a target, they declare all-out-war on the person and seek to ruin him or her on all social media platforms and endlessly try to get them terminated at work and banned from their clubs, organizations and community. Cancel Culture perpetrators try to remove their selected victim from anything of social and economic value. These narcissists play the role of society’s conquering hero as they exaggerate their outrage and wrongly slander others while feasting on praise from like-minded evil doers for a job well done.

Oftentimes, these predators pretend to be a victim themselves as they embellish even the idea of a prior offense that they may or may not have suffered by another. No actual violation is required, only the potential or imagined infringement is sufficient to justify permanent and complete annihilation of their fellowman.  

The lack of true crimes reveals their motives. They are completely intolerant of any and all views that disagree with their “current” opinion. They refuse to engage in an open and honest conversation with anyone who’s opinions they disagree. Some of these “speech police” are simply immature or lack discernment, others are deceived and reject truth, and some are just plain evil and want to do harm.

While people have been “canceled” for a variety of reasons, many have been dragged through the mud for simply supporting a biblical worldview. Wrongly thinking they can silence God by silencing His people, Christians live under a barrage of enemy fire.

But God will not be silenced. In fact, His Word teaches that God is the ultimate “canceler.” The Bible has many examples of people God annihilated when they came against Him or His children. For example, Pharaoh and his army, the Canaanites, and the Philistines, and in more modern times, Hitler have all been cancelled.

God’s Word declares that those who reject Him will be canceled.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warns, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Psalm 9:5 states, “You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.”

Revelation 3:5 proclaims, “He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

Final words for those caught up in this “Cancel Culture”: Instead of searching for those with whom you disagree and feel should be “canceled”, look inward and examine your own heart. Is your primary victim yourself? Will your name be blotted out of the Book of Life? Is your eternal inheritance death, hell and the lake of fire or eternal life with Jesus Christ? Will you be canceled for all eternity?
