Thwarting Evil

Evil people attack the righteous because they are deluded, selfish and evil. They use lies, misstatements, accusations, subtlety, slander and propaganda. Lately they have started “canceling” their targets, which involves personal, financial and law-fare attacks, occasionally physical threats. If allowed, evil people use corrupt government to oppress their foes. The motivation behind evil people is hate and that is a prime reason to avoid using their own tactics against them. Hate consumes and destroys its host.

Of course, these actions are reprehensible in a free nation and righteous people would not stoop to such wicked practices. In America people have a right to express their opinion and are deemed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law, as provided by our Constitution. Evil people and their organizations seek to quash these rights for others, but are quick to assert it for themselves. Consider, the false accusations and slander fomented against Brett Kavanaugh. The false accuser was made into a champion of evil doers, just like Anita Hill and Stormy Daniel’s and others. 

So, how are the righteous to overcome these evil practices? Are we to become mute dolts like George W. Bush who said nothing pretending to hold the high ground while never correcting the record or speaking the truth? Absolutely not, Bush may have actually agreed in his heart with his opponents and had more disdain for his conservative supporters. No general would insult his troops by bowing down to the enemy. “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”(Ephesians 5:6-11)

It is by truth, honor and love that the battle is waged, because the battle is spiritual and will be fought in that realm. Truth can not be subverted forever. Honor is required in that we must be clean and lead pure lives ourselves. Love is of God and never ends, it is life giving and like light which enlightens everything. There is only one side that matters in all factions, disputes and conflicts, irrespective of how many parties are involved – God’s side. As we stand for Him and His purposes waiting for His leading and courageously speaking and acting in concert with the Holy Spirit and unity with His Word we will see the battle and victory belong to the Lord.
