America Remembered

America may be nearing its end, a nation corrupt, lewd, immoral, utterly selfish, divided in hundreds of warring factions. It will be abandoned among a world of totalitarian rule and oppression. Will it be remembered as the greatest experiment in freedom, the standard bearer of individual liberty and righteousness? Not if the history revisionists are successful. Still, some things may linger.

The Wild West cowboy is known worldwide in literature, film, and song. It’s grand conquest and portrayal of heroes and villains may be remembered. American music could be remembered with its various genres and myriad of influences recounting the American rise and fall. The American melting pot may be  recalled as a concept that didn’t work so effectively as communists tyrannies were able to produce through torture and execution. America’s reputation as a Christian nation may likely be forgotten as Barack Obama asserted, “We are no longer just a Christian Nation…”

Will it be remembered as an innovative society creating new technologies and methodologies in communications, transportation and aviation? Our medical system was the best in the world due to free enterprise funding, development of new medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and procedures. Our technological advances have historically led the world which will be easily forgotten as our leadership subsides in chaos, poverty and the breakdown of a robust society and economy. America has been the worlds “bread basket” with an agricultural sector beyond any in the world. How could this be forgotten? Will our great national parks and natural wonders be lost, poisoned or burned? Will they become dirty abandoned camps or kept only accessible to the ruling elites?

History revisionist will exploit a skewed perspective that America was an aggressor, imperialists state, conquering noble indigenous peoples and subjecting minorities to slavery and oppression. Nikita Khrushchev promoted this concept when he visited the Bronx in New York. These people will accuse Americans as bullies, who exploited their neighbors and mistreated the world in arrogance. Will the last American generation even remember its former greatness or will it only know poverty, division and corruption?

The American founder’s “home of the brave and land of the free” is fully articulated in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. It was not a dream of what might have been, but a reality for generations who exhibited the strength of an unselfish purpose for family and faith. No one will say, “Their God abandoned them,” but rather, “They turned away from the God of the Bible who was their founder.” “Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.“ (Psalms 83:18)
