Transgender and Pinocchio

Until recently to identify a thing apart from its biological, factual, scientific and historical reality was mental derangement, illness, or incapacity. Suddenly, to identify ones race, gender, or other characteristic as other than reality was accepted as truth over and above reality. At the same time surgical and pharmaceutical methods began to be used as a method of conforming physical/biological characteristics to match a persons chosen mental identity. For all human history gender was male and female, but medical science developed irreversible procedures to castrate and grow breasts on males so they looked “like” women and perform equivalent drastic procedures on females to look “like” men. However, their underlying DNA is unaltered and the resulting gender appearance are often distinctly bizarre.

I was reminded of this process in Disney’s movie Pinocchio. Pinocchio is a wooden puppet made by Giuseppe, a toy maker, who is brought to life by a fairy, but left wooden until, and if, he proves himself worthy of being a real boy. A cricket named, Jiminy, is designated by the fairy to be Pinocchio’s conscience. Pinocchio who is selfish, naive and wayward ignores his conscience and is promptly sold into slavery. This is illustrative of people who pursue selfish lusts contrary to conscience and even natural sexual relations, (though homosexuals have looked for a gay gene to excuse their behavior, none exists) giving themselves over to a depraved mind. (Rom. 1:28-29)

Returning to the movie, Pinocchio is magically set free by the fairy with a warning. Nevertheless, he quickly and defiantly chooses to go with the fox to Pleasure Island along with all the foolish delinquent boys who are seduced by a human trafficker. Pinocchio joins in smoking, laziness, ruckus, destructive behavior and unrestrained self-indulgence, until all the boys begin transforming into donkeys with big ears, a long tail and hooves instead of hands and feet. At this point the evil human trafficker’s scheme is revealed, whereas the donkeys who once were boys are sold into captivity for the benefit of those who purchase them. Here again today’s reality is depicted as those who begin the years-long process of gender transition often become sexual workers to pay for their expensive transition surgery and drugs. As more children are being groomed for transgenderism schools and libraries are hiding it from parents and distributing books on how to make money in the sex trade to children.

Giuseppe, Pinocchio’s father, goes in search of him and becomes lost in a whale at the bottom of the sea. Eventually, Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket find and save Giuseppe and merit the fairy’s gift of becoming a real boy. The movie has a good ending, albeit fantastically uncharacteristic of Pinocchio who is prone to lying. In real life suicide, unhappiness, progressive levels of mental derangement and detransition are being observed. Medical professionals in Europe have rejected transgenderism as an appropriate response to gender dystopia. Many states are making it illegal for minors and an American Pediatricians organization is renouncing it. https://www.foxnews.com/health/american-college-pediatricians-issues-fiery-statement-condemning-child-gender-transition. Perhaps Pinocchio had something to say about worldly influences and identity in 1940 when it was released.
