Strength to Strength

“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.” (Psalms 84:5-7)

We are surrounded by scriptures that proclaim the truth of God. Like the numerous passages saying, whatever you ask for in prayer you will receive. (Matt. 7:7,11, 21:22; John 14:13,14, 15:7, 16:23; Mark 11:24; Ps. 37:4; 1 John 5:15) However, we get numb and weak in time and by looking at anything other than the truth, for the world is full of lies and distortions of the truth. It opposes the truth and seeks only to kill, steal and destroy. It is God’s will the we overcome and go from strength to strength.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9) We are weak in ourselves, but His power is perfected through our weakness, proving God is able to do all He has promised. Our hearts can remain committed to Him even in the face of many challenges. (Psalms 34:15) He gives the strength and all good things are in His hands. (1 Chronicles 29:12) “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31) We may not see ourselves as God does, as our vision is very limited and our focus should be upon Him. In faith we can prevail knowing that what we asked for may be fulfilled after we leave this world or in ways we could never fully grasp in this life.

“Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” (1 Chronicles 16:28-29) To God belongs all glory, majesty and honor, we grasp this knowing that even our prayers have their origin in His Holy Spirit. We know the answers to our prayers are in His loving hands, but can we see that even our requests belong to Him.
