“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” (Romans 11:33-36)
The glory and majesty of the blessing, promises and gift of God to His children are of inestimable worth. There is an illustration in scripture that draws a comparison. David was fleeing from king Saul, but God gave Saul into David’s hands where he could easily kill him. David refused to kill Saul because he believed the king’s life was in Gods hands. (Job 12:10) When his peril became known to Saul, David appealed to him, “Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Who are you pursuing? A dead dog? A flea?” (1 Samuel 24:14) David maintained humility, but was ultimately given the Kingdom by God. The difference between our temporal lost condition is as a “dead dog”, compared to the Glory and riches that are given to us in Yeshua, Messiah.
Another illustration is in Ezekiel 16, “On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised. “ ‘Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!”” The story continues, with betrayal, vulgar behavior and shameful arrogance, and finally, the Lord establishes an everlasting covenant and redemption for His peoples unfaithfulness. This is the contrast of God’s loving compassion upon those who deserve the opposite.
Finally, the Son of God, Yeshua, Messiah lived a perfect righteous life, healing the sick, feeding multitudes, delivering from demonic bondage, teaching Truth, imparting Holy Spirit and revealing Father God in human flesh. Yet, “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:3-5) The riches of the presence of God Almighty are infinitely magnified by the undeserved mercy granted to us.
