“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.” Jude 24
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32
It is important to remember that it is Christ who keeps Christians from stumbling and keeps them in the faith until He can present them faultless before God. We have nothing to do with it and indeed have no power to keep from stumbling in our own strength. Only as we yield to the Spirit indwelling us can we live holy as God is holy (I Peter 1:16). When we decide to yield to our flesh we stumble. It is very encouraging, however, that God will see those He has chosen through to one day stand faultless before Him.
With God for us there is none who can stand against us. Yes, Christians will be persecuted to one degree or another and some even martyred but ultimately we will be with God in Heaven making all our sufferings unworthy to be compared to our ultimate glory (Romans 8:18). Further, since God already gave the greatest sacrifice of all, His Son, He will not hesitate to give freely all things pertaining to life and godliness here and now (II Peter 1:3).
These great promises are true regardless of the fact that we so often prove unworthy of God in our life. If God can come to the aid of Israel and bless them after they over and over again turned from God, He can give us all needed things even though we are unworthy. ” ‘Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you’, says the Lord” (Isaiah 41:14). Israel could be a worm at times but they were chosen of God and He was going to accomplish His plan for them and so will He for Believers today. God is faithful even when we are unfaithful (II Timothy 2:13). That is our great hope.
