Contradiction

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4)

There are many things in this world that are contradictory. Time itself is contradictory in that it had a beginning and will end, but not in the human mind, which imagines it will go on for ever. Space is finite, but there is no evidence or observation to prove or explain how. In contradiction, there are paradoxes, things that appear impossible, but nevertheless exists.

One of the amazing contradictions is good versus evil. We all instinctively know good from evil, though many denials are offered. Some claim we choose our own values and these mark good and evil for us, which is absolute poppycock. Our internal conscience weights good and evil, but invariably knows that murdering a baby or raping a woman is evil. This is universally true all around the world. However, our conscience can be damaged and seared such that we are deluded. It seems that millions of people justify killing babies before they are born and call it good. This is an ongoing contradiction in America with roughly equal numbers believing it is either good or evil; though just seventy years ago it was outlawed as evil in every State.

Absolute truth is unopposed and not subject to conflict, yet how many Truths are acknowledged.  Everyone surely believes that every person will die. But a smaller population believes three people still live from their birth and two of these have yet to die after thousands of years. I’m referring to Enoch, Elijah and Yeshua, Messiah (Jesus). (Gen. 5:24; 2 Kings 2:11; Matt. 28:5-9) There are many absolute truths, but there are always doubters. (Matt. 28:17)

God is a subject of great contradiction. Most wicked people deny His existence, authority and that He rewards those who seek Him. God is described in so many different manners that it is difficult to understand the person He actually is. God told Moses to refer to Him as “I Am” and that He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (Exodus 3:14-15) This eliminates a lot of controversy about the God of the Bible, who is quite well described in the scriptures by historical examples of interactions with the Israelites and then as described completely by Yeshua, Messiah in words and deeds verified by miracles, signs and wonders. Although we are surrounded by contradictions, the truth is that God is self-verifying to those who accept and believe in Him through Yeshua. He gives every Believer the gift of faith to know Him. Though doubts may come and go, faith is the victory.
