“…and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time….Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:4-5, 8-9)
The Spirit and everything in the Spirit realm is invisible, untouchable by physical senses. Nevertheless, the Children of God are Spirit filled and empowered. We live by the Spirit.(Rom. 8:5,6,9,13) A very common and regular illustration of this is the communication and revelation Believers have through the Spirit and word. The Bible is the Spiritually empowered word of God. Unbelievers can no more understand its message than Nicodemus could understand being born again. The Spirit reveals truth, understanding, insight, wisdom and more by faith. (John 16:13) Believers are given revelation about a myriad of things that apply to life, goodliness, spiritual warfare, direction, peace, encouragement and every gift from God. It requires experience to become mature in spiritual walking and maturity. This is not as mystic as it may sound as the foundations of godliness are also evidenced in suffering that produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4) Spiritual disciplines of prayer, meditation, humility, supplication, and fasting also complement our faith and revelation.
Recently, I was selected for jury duty and assigned to a pool from which a jury would be selected when necessary. I wanted to serve and completed the information for qualification. I was not selected for two weeks, then at a family gathering, I realized my hearing loss, even with hearing aids, might prevent my hearing/understanding of testimony, jury instructions, deliberation, etc. I thought, “I would not want a juror, like me, to be on my case who could not be trusted to hear completely.” I called the Court and explained my situation and concerns. The Jury Administrator replied, “It’s been two weeks and you just know figured this out?” I said, “I considered it was better late than never.” She said, “Ok, I’ll remove you from the pool.” After the call, I was very hurt by her accusation. I wanted to serve, but I couldn’t risk failing in that duty by my hearing loss. Finally, I realized that this hurtful comment was a tiny part of suffering unjustly, to which all Believers are called. Then peace returned. It may seem insignificant, but God works in small daily matters, as well as global ones.
