I recently engaged in a conversation with an AI about various ancient topics and aspects of our world. For instance, it provided fascinating information about the Sun’s surface temperature, which is approximately 9,932 degrees Fahrenheit, and its core temperature, reaching around 27 million degrees. The current configuration of the continents is estimated to be about 200 million years old. However, the great flood recorded in the Bible, as well as in two other ancient documents, is often dismissed as a myth. While archaeological evidence does indicate severe floods in various regions around the world, many scientists reject the notion of a Biblical flood. One particularly controversial account is found in Exodus, where the departure of 600,000 Jewish men (not including women and children) from Egypt is described. Despite the detailed accounts of numbers with names and tribes, scientists lack archaeological evidence to support such a large exodus. Scientists expect to find remnants like campsites, discarded pottery, and perhaps even a muddy path through the Red Sea, yet these have not been discovered. Additionally, the Egyptians did not document the history of their slaves or the events surrounding their disgraceful, plundering departure, focusing instead on monuments honoring their kings.
There appears to be a systematic distinction in how information is presented by AI. Biblical accounts are often labeled as fables or myths, subject only to religious and philosophical interpretation. In contrast, secular scientific information is presented as fact, with precise calculations regarding the Sun’s temperature and detailed descriptions of continental arrangements from 200 million years ago. It is not surprising that some historical events remain beyond explanation. The Bible states that the Hebrews’ clothes and shoes miraculously did not wear out during their forty years of wandering (Deuteronomy 29:5). If scientists were to find the evidence they seek to prove the Exodus, it could paradoxically disprove it. Encounters with the supernatural God of the Bible inherently transcend scientific evidence, as such evidence exists beyond the confines of space and time. There are no remnants of animal bones or leftovers from the Hebrews, as their sustenance was described as the food of angels—manna (Exodus 16:14-24; Joshua 5:11-12).
God provided scribes and prophets to record the events of the Bible, but much of the ancient human record has been lost to time. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 is hailed as one of the most significant archaeological finds of the 20th century, affirming the remarkable accuracy of the Biblical texts. We are left with two diverging paths: secular estimates and suppositions based on nothing versus historical accounts of a supernatural, loving God, the Creator of the Universe. AI is making this distinction clear; the question remains: which path will you choose to pursue?
