Land Given by the Lord

“Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places.” (Deuteronomy 12:2-3)  

God gave Israel the Land of Canaan populated by various pagan nations of whom the Lord disapproved. Idolatry is abhorrent to the one True God Almighty. Idols are demonic and not to be tolerated. The Spiritual equivalent of this in our time and nation is represented by Abortion, Humanism, Paganism, witchcraft and the like. As Believers we operate in a different, Spiritual manner. “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

God did not expect Israel to go into battle alone or without His guidance. (See AI, Joshua 7:2-25) Likewise, we must not rely on ourselves or ignore our own sinfulness. Anything that is accomplished of significance is from the Lord’s doing and for His glory. The Lord intended for Israel to possess all the land given to them over a period of time and with His help. He cautioned Israel not to intermarry with pagan peoples or leave standing their idols and shrines. Today, the Church should learn this lesson that humanist/pagan ways cannot be tolerated in the Congregation of Believers. We see this with acceptance of LGBT marriages and acts by certain Christian churches.  

Congress has a bill currently proposed to rid pornography from the public airways and internet. This is a great bill that should be established and all Believers should pray for its passage and God’s help to rid our nation of this wicked idolatry. Moreover, we should fight in Spiritual warfare against abortion, gender dystopia and every form of idolatry that has crept into our churches, society and nation. 

Our prayer should be, “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:47) Yeshua came to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8) Lord, show yourself mighty and our deliverer from idolatry and wickedness in this land you have given us.
