“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;” (John 13:3)
Immediately after we see that Yeshua knew what was about to happen, He gets ready and begins to wash the feet of the disciples. (John 13:4-5) The almighty powerful Son, God of the universe, illustrated love and humility to His chosen disciples. This and a thousand others acts of love revealed the nature and heart of God to mankind as never before conceived by men. The Perfect man entered this broken world giving up His rights, royalty, and life to experience the worst, most unjust, evil abuse humanity could cast upon a person. Yeshua knew all that would be demanded of him before it happened. He knew all authority was given to Him, and He surrendered to crucification.
Sovereignty means supreme power and authority, and God used this to purchase forgiveness, redemption and freedom for everyone who believes in Yeshua, Messiah. God became a human being, He could fly to the sun and walk through the center of it without any damage because everything is possible for Him and He created the sun and entire universe. Yet, He is love and good. He is light and life. He is merciful and righteous.
He is revealing Himself to men and transforming a people to be called “The Children of God.” He has formed a living temple upon earth in which His Spirit dwells. Light and life are in His presence. All this is a foreshadow of what He has planned for His Children in Heaven. They will rise in Heaven just as their Messiah Yeshua has and reign as the first fruits of redeemed Humanity. Even the angels can not sing like men who have been redeemed.
Scripture is clear about God’s Sovereign power and authority. He knows everything from the end to the beginning. We can rest in His good will and loving kindness. We have purposes in His kingdom that He is working out through us. He holds every Believer in His everlasting arms and gives us the guarantee of the Holy Spirit. There is a freewill of mankind to make decisions in this temporal life, but is not power to save ourselves or to even fully carryout God’s will, nor certainly to earn anything from our efforts. No man will have anything to boast before God, all have fallen short. Anything we do right is by walking in the Holy Spirit and He deserves all the credit and glory. God is Sovereign, you are not saved, nor condemned, because you had freewill and chose Him, but because He chose you before the world was created. (Eph. 1:4-5, 11; Rom. 8:29, 9:18-23; 1 Thess. 1:4-5; 2 Thess. 2:13)
