God Alone

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

Messiah Yeshua came proclaiming forgiveness of sins. Some who considered themselves knowledgable thought, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Mark 2:7) Yeshua took our sins upon the cross and bore the penalty of our sins Himself. He provided atonement as the spotless sacrificial lamb, once and for all time. (Heb. 10:10)

God’s order is beyond space and time, such that He is ever-present. He knows the end from the beginning and His will is Sovereign. He revealed Himself at just the right time and will come again in perfect timing as Israel’s Savior, then, now and in the future. When He saw the faith of Abraham, He credited it to him as righteousness. “The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.” (Romans 4:3, 23-24) A Believer’s faith in God produces righteousness through Yeshua and by Holy Spirit enables proclamation of forgiveness. “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” (Matthew 6:14) Put another way and amplified, “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” (Luke 6:35) All that Yeshua said and did affects all those who follow Him and pursue eternal life through the Holy Spirit. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12) In the Almighty name of Yeshua we proclaim forgiveness, undeserved, by God’s grace, beyond human rationale, apart from human senses and completely due to the Love of God expressed in our Messiah. To this we are called, by the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” (Romans 4:17)
