Among women having abortions those asserting evangelical christian are 10-15%; Catholic 20-25%; from liberal states 40+% and from conservative states 20-30%. I believe it is safe to say, non-christians or humanists from states that embrace abortion are the majority of those aborting babies. “Research indicates that a significant number of women who have had abortions grapple with moral and ethical concerns regarding the procedure. I’m not interested in loading guilt and condemnation upon anyone; Satan is the accuser. However, for all who have no background or knowledge of Christian faith or Scripture, I would offer that it provides freedom from the lies and snare that is abortion. The propaganda media suggest it is merely a choice to end the life of an unborn baby, that there is no baby, but a mass of inert tissue. Science refutes these lies – six weeks after conception a heart beat is detectible; at eight weeks brain activity is detectible. Much more life can be observed as the baby grows and sooner as science improves its methods.

The moral and ethical concerns are addressed in scripture. “Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”” (Romans 9:10-13) God ordained His purposes for unborn babies. Many scriptures support God’s call on the unborn. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5) “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Ps. 139:13-16) Taking a life is very serious morally and emotionally and far exceeds nine months of inconvenience, effort and birth.  Crisis pregnancy centers offer help and support. The stories of adopted children and their mothers are too precious and important to ignore, they testify to the sanctity of life.
