I see friends shaking hands, saying, “How do you do?”
They’re really sayin’, “I love you”
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll never know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
- Louis Armstrong
I saw a picture of our youngest granddaughter smiling from ear to ear when she was just a few months old. I have many others like it with her smiles of delight and I think of what inspires such wonder and joy. Is it freedom from all sadness and suffering we pick up along the way of life? Could it be the growth hormones in such abundance, pure, organic, effective for life enhancement? No one retains memories of being a baby; if we did would we recall the faces of our guardian angels and their glory and love that inspires impromptu laughter and giggles? Are we born with an extra-large measure of Gods love that bubbles over in this life, but was just normal in Heaven? Are our senses at first so heightened that common sights, sounds, touches, tastes and smells are simply thrilling, but soon become dull with use and drowned out by selfish desires unfulfilled and unfulfilling?
Yeshua had a special place in His heart for little children. He ordered that they were to be given priority access to Him. (Mark 10:14) Moreover, He said, “And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (Matthew 18:5-6) How far the world and its usurper king has gone to hurt, destroy, disfigure and murder in the womb the innocent little children.
However, Yeshua is returning to reclaim His rightful throne on earth and then, “The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:8-9) As the song encourages, God’s creation is still a wonderful world, if we look with eyes and heart of a child and set our minds upon the King of Glory, Yeshua Messiah, our glory and the lifter of our head.
