“…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (I Peter 5:7 NKJV)
There is great heaviness in worry and fear, dreading the future over what may go wrong. Even the weather can be a cause for worry, but we have no control over it. Is this our futile effort to work things out as we desire? It is stressful to worry, particularly for no reason and stress is a heavy load to bear. Our body recognizes the heavy weight of stress and our arteries become inflamed, producing a plague of cholesterol to cover and strengthen the inflamed arteries, but this causes a restriction in the blood flow and further exasperates our health with high blood pressure. All this is from the invisible load of worry and fear we carry around.
The Spirit has been reminding me to let go of my disguised effort of worry, trust God, cast out fear and expect things to work out or know that good alternatives exists in God’s hands. I was in a habit of worrying, constantly thinking about the uncertain future. This is a folly. (Prov. 16:3, 27:1; Matt. 6:34) The Spirit was right and I began to stop my habit and just cast my cares on Father God, who is in control of all things.
I began with my flocks and herds, as scriptures says, God will bless them. (Deut. 28:4-12) Then, in small things like daily plans and activities, I submitted them to His care. We had scheduled a weekend on the lake with our son’s family. The rain chances were 40%, then 50%, then 60% on the day to leave, but I didn’t pick up the load of worry. On the lake we got an early start. Our jet ski battery failed, but we jump started it and it worked for us to ride around, then we went out on a pontoon boat. The lake was deserted because of the rain threat, consequently, the marina gave us a better boat with a slide, since all the others were under maintenance. After a little while it got cloudy and rain appeared in the distance. We were swimming and playing with the children in the water which was unusually warm. I gentle light rain began, coming straight down with no wind at all. This continued for two hours, but didn’t hamper our swimming or fun. Although thunderstorms were predicted and common this time of year, we had a unique day that ended with sunshine and clear sky. When God say’s to trust Him, it is true, He can be relied upon.
