Generations

I’m on the tail-end of the Baby Boomer generation. My children are Gen. X and my Grandchildren Gen. Z. If you listen to the folk music and voices of the Baby Boomers you will hear a cry for love and peace. The 1970’s brought about an answer to that cry and desire in the Jesus Movement revival. It was properly called a revival, rather than an awakening because the Baby Boomers were generally raised in church denominations of our WWII era parents, so we were exposed to the Bible and the gospel, as many went to church and christian principles were in society and schools. I will present one song as evidence though there are many, “The Wedding Song”, by Peter, Paul and Mary is a song that declares Heaven’s love and marks this generation. However, this is not about a generation that has come and is headed out. Moreover, there were some really bad things among the Baby Boomers like materialism, drug culture, sexual revolution and rebellion among others. Yet, an undeniable revival of God’s grace among that desperate generation witnessed the pouring out of Holy Spirit through Jesus.

Is Gen. Z hungry enough for life, freedom, Truth, love, forgiveness, and most importantly the knowledge of Yeshua, Messiah with a cry for His presence responding to a Holy Spirit anointing? Is an awakening being witnessed in these days upon University Campus? It is my prayer that the Lord will pour out His supernatural Spirit into Gen. Z hearts that are bombarded by the enemy with all sorts of dystopia, wickedness, oppression and depression. “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Corinthians 4:4-7)

The critical element of awakening/revival is the presence of Holy Spirit enlivening desperate hearts to accept the truth that Father God exist and is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him. (Heb. 11:6) Lord open eyes and hearts by faith in Yeshua on this day of salvation.
