God’s Presence

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”” (Genesis 3:8-9)

“For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.” (Hebrews 9:24)

“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” (John 16:7)

God has always maintained His presence on earth. He was in the Garden of Eden and He spoke with the Patriarchs, establishing His name as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and revealing Himself to each one. His presence led the Israelites in the wilderness by a cloud by day and pilar of fire by night. (Exodus 40:38) He put His presence in the temple and spoke through Moses and the prophets to the people until John the Baptist.

Yeshua Messiah came as a human baby, embodying God’s presence in human flesh. Yeshua revealed Father God through the power of the Holy Spirit that descended upon Him as a dove. Yeshua accomplished the will of God on earth by bringing His Word and reconciling man with Himself through the sacrifice of His only son, Yeshua, on the cross for our sins. He rose from the grave defeating satan and triumphing over him by His blood. He ascended to the Father and ever intercedes for the Children of God. (Rom. 8:34) Lastly, He imparted the Holy Spirit to every Believer.

The Holy Spirit indwells each Believer as they are born again in the Spirit. They form a living temple in which the presence of God inhabits on earth. It was God’s intention to speak directly to His children. (Exodus 20:18-19) Through Yeshua He accomplished this such that through His written word, the Holy Spirit and the Congregation of Believers we have access to His presence. (Col. 1:25-27) “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” (Psalms 27:4)
