“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Are you happy? I read a little about a rich, popular, famous singer who shared that she was usually unhappy, felt alone and was often depressed. We cannot produce for ourselves happiness or anything fundamentally satisfying and good. We are designed to receive good things from our maker – God. He puts us in family as we are born and our parents care, nurture and love us, and this is God’s design. The world is busy trying to wreck the family, society, nations and all the good God gives to all people.
At some point we realize our attempts to generate happiness or briefly relieve our sadness are vain, temporary and useless. We them come to the end of our self-efforts. This can be the beginning of hope for a better future. We are all looking for love and God is Love. (1 John 4:8,16) We all have experienced a degree of God’s mercy, provision and love, but the lies of the enemy blind us to the truth. (2 Cor. 4:5) However, even truths are self-evident as the Founders of America stated. God doesn’t force Himself upon us, but He has revealed Himself through Creation and most thoroughly through His only Son, Yeshua, sometimes referred to as Jesus of Nazareth.
He is the source of the Hope mentioned earlier that explodes in life and awakening when we surrender our ways, means and desires to Him. Solomon observed, “Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.” (Proverbs 15:33) There is a time for everything, even a time to quit, cease our selfish striving, carnal desires and wait upon the Lord of Heaven and Earth. These concepts are opposite from those of the world and that is the path to peace, love, hope, faith and life. Like the sun and rain which God gives each in their time to all people; He looks for those who will humble themselves and seek Him. There is no wiser decision than to earnestly seek God.
The word of God is written in the Bible and it is also revealed in nature, the night sky full of stars, sunsets and sunrises full of color and His majesty. The prophecy and subsequent fulfillment of Yeshua Messiah’s supernatural coming, ministry and message is the light of life. Open and surrender your mind, body, heart, soul and spirit to His loving presence and live.
