There is a movie with this title by The Visual Bible International. It is outstanding and I watch it again and again. The words and events depicted are a faithful representation of the book of John in the bible. The story of Yeshua talking with the Samaritan women at the well is superb, the visual depiction of this conversation is simply powerful in the Spirit. It is the most direct admission made by Yeshua that He is the Messiah. Yeshua gives a prophetic word to the woman, who clearly was looking with hope for the coming of the Messiah. It was to this unnamed poor humble Samaratian woman who Yeshua came and pronounced in reply to her reference to the Messiah, “I am he”. (John 4: 25-26).
The movie has another very interesting encounter between Yeshua and Nathaniel.
“When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, ‘Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.’ ‘How do you know me?’ Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, ‘I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.’ Then Nathanael declared, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.’ Jesus said, ‘You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.’ He then added, ‘Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.’ ” (John 1: 47-51).
This confession proceeds that made by Peter, but very little is mentioned of it. What had Nathanael experienced or seen while under the fig tree to prompt such a bold declaration? The movie depicts, without word, a Spiritual realization by Philip, to explain this immediate recognition of Yeshua, the Messiah. We cannot be certain as to this, but Yeshua acknowledged that Nathanael would see even greater visions. To me it is a very moving experience, this depiction of the receptive heart in one who is looking for the Messiah and the moment of recognizing Him.
Yeshua said, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7: 38-39). When you lay believing eyes upon the Son of God, Savior of the World, whether in the flesh or by the Spirit through faith, and you have rivers of living water well up and flow from within you; then you can appreciate and relate to the Samaritan woman and Nathaniel.
I believe God has revealed Himself to every person ever created, in one way or another. Yeshua told Thomas, blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. Those who respond, who are given eyes to see and ears to hear and put their faith in Yeshua will receive the indwelling presence of God’s Holy Spirit.
