“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
The Holy Spirit is God, perfect, eternal, infinite, unfathomable, omniscient – everything and more. He has been imparted to men and women who have been born again by the Spirit into Spiritual life. How can it be – does oil and water mix? What does it look like in time and space? What is are the consequences? These questions and others like them must arise, but there are answers, the best given by Yeshua to Nicodemus, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:6-8)
Paul reminds us that our flesh grows old and perishes, but the Spirit grows in life eternal giving identity to each Believer as a Child of God, Joint heir with Messiah, Beloved, Forgiven, Redeemed, Friend of God, etc. (Rom. 8:5-10) Beyond the position the Spirit gives us, there is evidence of Spiritual life, but it is largely unseen like the wind, as Yeshua said. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18) What God is doing in His people He is also doing in the earth; just as the world is in decline and will be remade, so our mortal existence declines to be gloriously renewed in Heaven. (1 John 2:17)
The Spirit is writing a perfect narrative hidden in every Child of God. It is full of eternal Spiritual characteristics, divine acts with divine timing. Love displayed as only God can produce, sacrificial, redemptive, miraculous, omnipotent. All the supernatural character of God is being displayed by the Spirit through and in the Congregation of Believers. The temple of the living God is not a dusty, stone, echoing edifice, but a living, breathing, celebration of light, worship, praise, joy and love continuing 24/7. Each Believer is part of this, perfection working amidst the imperfect, Spirit-leading overriding fleshly lusts, life is springing up eternal around the world as Yeshua continues to draw people and save souls. The Kingdom of God is advancing, are you part of the Spiritual forces in His vanguard?
