“But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand.” (Psalms 10:14a)
God is falsely accused of many things, but not caring for the afflicted, oppressed, grief-stricken and helpless is perhaps the most malicious. To deny God’s compassion and mercy is to spit in the face of Yeshua who picked up the children in His arms and blessed them; who weeped with those who had lost loved ones; who set free those that fell captive to evil spirit oppression, and who restored sight to the blind and made the lame walk. The one characteristic of God’s nature best accentuated by Yeshua on earth was His compassion. It is mentioned eighty-eight times in the Bible, but it is easy for the world to deny as it foments more and more torment on people.
Some will suggest God knows, but stand aloof. Yeshua’s life and ministry contradicts such an assertion. He said, “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” (John 5:19; also see John 14:31) The Psalmist saw that not only does God feel compassion and demonstrate it, but He takes our trouble in hand.
Scientists imagine a tenth dimension as the point in which everything possible and imaginable situation is covered, and nothing further can be imagined by us lowly mortals. God transcends human limits in His perfection, infinity and unlimited goodness, wisdom, and power. Never let your own limitation measure, define, or judge God in any respect of who He is, what He does or will yet accomplish. Scripture tells us plainly, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33) Moreover, though innocent children may die, He is not to blame. “For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!” (Ezekiel 18:32)
Israel was delivered from Egyptian slavery by great miracles preceding and following them, but they quickly forgot and refused to trust God. We are no different today. However, today the Congregation of Believers is filled with the Holy Spirit and Yeshua, Messiah is our Deliverer, Savior and Redeemer. He will bring us through to heaven’s eternal home in God’s presence and love will reign, as we give Him Glory for His great Compassion. (Isaiah 54:7-8)
