Thomas demanded to see before he would believe. Yeshua said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
There are many things to believe regarding Yeshua, God and the Holy Spirit. I distinguish the three persons of the One True God almighty because it highlights areas of unbelief. Moreover, not only did Yeshua raise three dead people to life, Peter raised Dorcas to life and Paul raised Eutychus from death. (Acts 9:36-42; 20: 9-12) Has anyone been raised again to life since the first Century? Have any true God-initiated miracles happened since the First Century. Is God still the same miracle working God of the Bible? “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:30-31)
Believing is critically essential for each of us. Paul said, “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?…So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?” (Galatians 3:2, 5) This brings together the Holy Spirit infilling and miracles as to faith. He is saying, “Do you think being good enough is how and why God gave you the Spirit and performs miracles?” No, believing is the reason.
Even so, it is not about miracles or even Holy Spirit indwelling, what God seeks are people who will live their entire lives believing every word, promise and truth of God even though all the world, facts, circumstances, scientists, scholars, preachers and theologians deny, rationalize and affirm He doesn’t exist. “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24)
God is seeking worshipers! His Word says, “…The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:8-9) Let God be true, and every human being a liar. (Rom. 3:3-4)
