“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution … Live as people who are free not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God … Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.” I Peter 2: 13-18.
We are called to be subject/submissive to the authorities that have been placed above us, such as government authorities and workplace bosses, whether they are just or not. Further, we are not to rebel in our hearts against the authorities
Romans 13: 1-2 states “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers (governments/rulers). For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” It is interesting that Paul wrote this passage while the wicked Nero was Emperor who was persecuting the Christians.
