God’s Word

6531c025b611c78865fbc1d66d0a0d30Every word of God proves true. (Prov. 30:5).  We may not understand His every word in its entirety, today.  However He is able to make Himself known and we have no excuse for failing to acknowledging Him, even though our understanding may be  shallow.  Relying on the truth of His Word will bring light to our understanding, as we open our hearts to receive it in faith.  So, we begin with the knowledge of the creator God and inherently understand our weakness, fallibility, and sinfulness.  Yes, we have the knowledge of good and evil within us, even a small child can understand doing wrong, e.g. hurting someone, even though they may quickly justify it or ignore it because they obtained what they wanted.  Irrespective of the religious background or lack thereof, people around the world know and admit that killing another man’s wife or child is wrong.

Knowing the truth is not equal to obeying it and God calls people to obey Him, i.e. to love God and one’s neighbor. The inherent knowledge of the fallen nature of man is why men have created so many religions and fashioned gods to go with them.  The modern man scoffs at religion and even the concept of sin or wrongdoing because he invented a religion of science and proclaimed himself God.  In his hypocritical view he maintains a semblance of morality while rejecting the truth that is undeniable within him.  This idol is very powerful in the world today and his attack and rebellion continues against the one true living God, creator of heaven and earth, the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, the God of the enduring Word, Yeshua Messiah.  However, all idols are worthless and powerless in the light of the living God.

For followers of the truth, those who believe God’s word, there is a wealth of good promises, peace, hope and love.  We do not wage war against the enemies of God, but we do take our stand in His authority by the power of our Messiah, Yeshua. ( 1 Pet 3: 21:22).

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Eph. 6:12-17).

Open your heart to the Word, believe it, memorize it, stand firm upon it, pray it, rest in it, accept it.  I was in my first year of college when I accepted the truth that all my sin, past, present and future has been cast into the sea of forgetfulness and moved from me as far as the east is from the west. (Micah 7:19; Ps. 103:12).  Lay aside critical thinking; searching with a limited rational mindset; grasping to fit God’s word into the small box you occupy. With your surrender and submission to the Almighty lover of your soul you can open the door to the light of truth.
