The earth is like a spinning top tilted on its axis.  The spin gives us day and night, while the tilt provides the seasons.  It’s a good thing our scientist are keeping the earth spinning at just the right speed for us, because if it slowed or stopped we would either bake in the heat or freeze in the dark.  I’m glad our great scientists are keeping the earth’s axis tilted at just the right angle so that the poles neither freeze nor thaw too much.  Oh, that reminds me of the global warming that our scientist are solving by eliminating an insignificant fraction of the CO2 that is produced in the oceans.  I’m so glad that our scientist are able to take us to Mars when we have to leave this planet.  I don’t understand how it is possible for them to create an atmosphere on Mars, rather than simply clean the existing atmosphere here on earth, but they must know everything.  I also don’t understand how they know so much about the other planets, yet haven’t even explored the oceans of this earth, but they can do anything they set their minds to – Right?

Look at how great our human society has become, in spite of war, crime, hunger and famine, political corruption, murder, suicide, government sanctioned genocide, disease, terrorism, disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and volcanos.  Well, I guess we can’t blame all that on our scientists, but if they are as smart as they claim, why can’t they solve these issues too.  I think many blame religion for most of the bad things that happen, but wasn’t it Gandhi that popularized passive resistance and peaceful protest.  Wasn’t Martin Luther King, Jr. a Christian preacher who promoted peace, non-violent protests and forgiveness.  Wasn’t Jesus the one who preached love and submission; who taught His followers to love their enemies and treat others as you want to be treated.  Wasn’t it communism, fascists, and dictators who gave us the greatest genocide ever in Russia, China, and Germany.  Well our scientists have given us abortion that has eclipsed all killing and continues at the rate of three million per year.  If it wasn’t for their opinion that the baby in the mother’s womb is only a mass of tissue, these babies would be born.

Of course scientific knowledge is put to good use like medical science, that was originally instituted in Christian hospitals, universities and organizations.  However, the scientists we can trust are the ones who know that we evolved from cells in the ocean and assure us that there are many other inhabited planets in our galaxy and universe and they all were created by random happenstance.  The most ancient and widespread book is not scientific, it says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ ” (Psalm 53: 1).
