Fear of Death

Death awaits us all, but we relish life and focus on its blessings. The Earth is synonymous, filled with stunning beauty and renewal each day. However, it will one day be destroyed by fire and with age it is diminishing in splendor. Some people want to blame mankind instead of science’s fourth law of thermodynamics. They also think they are powerful enough to fix the earth. I wonder whether they secretly wish to eliminate billions of humans in their hope to save the earth for polar bears, puppy’s, whales, fawns and a few good people like themselves. In spite of all their conniving, death will come and we fear it instinctively.

Yeshua, (Jesus’ Hebrew name) came to earth in order to redeem mankind by dying in our place. (Rom. 4:25) “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15) The concept of death is fearsome in its uncertainty, finality and demand for all that remains of us, body, soul and spirit. Is there any hope after death? Could it be true that we have a transcendent soul/spirit that will endure in a realm beyond the physical universe? Is there an afterlife? All the religions of the world say so, even the Eastern religions say it is a peaceful nirvana. All recognize moral requirements to enter or be rewarded in the afterlife. The Christian faith is unique in that it alone points to a Messiah who satisfies the requirements for those who believe and trust in Him. Do you want life eternal? There is one path and doorway beyond the judgment of death’s ultimatum. That way is a person, Yeshua Messiah, who said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24) He does not merely say this, but was resurrected from death on a cross three days later, proving all He said was true. Moreover, He lives evermore and confirms Himself to each Believer. “But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.” (Rom. 8:10) Yeshua, takes away the fear of death and gives hope of life eternal. The enemy of mankind, the devil, seeks to confuse and deceive everyone, but Yeshua is greater than all. Scripture speaks of Yeshua’s follower’s victory over the devil in the end times, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” (Revelation 12:11)

When we see the truth Yeshua reveals of eternal life and life abundant without decay, declining health, aging, fear or death and begin the path of spiritual growth and discipleship in God’s love we are set free from the temporal and set our hope upon the eternal. “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’ ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:54-57) Would you like to be free from the fear of death, check out Yeshua, His message to you is in the Bible.

  1. I have always suspected that sin is the drag that causes the second law of thermodynamics to function as it does, dissipating the energy of the Voice of creation in the physical realm.

  2. I think your right. The fall of man, God’s pinnacle temporal creature charged with managing creation, brought sin, the curse of death, on himself and the earth as well. Sin and death are the last to be destroyed by Messiah Yeshua, before the new incorruptible earth comes.

  3. I look forward to the day when we will be able to see our loved ones again here on earth by resurrection. And we will then live here on earth in peaceful conditions. John 5:28,29-Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice, 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

Psalms 37:11-But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

  4. Not sure of the applicability between your scriptures, but we will be reunited with loved ones in Heaven. I do believe in a millennial reign of Yeshua on earth, but I’m not sure if we are all invited. Can’t be too dogmatic on every end time detail. Thanks for your comment.
