One favorite encounter in scripture is Yeshua meeting a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. The Samaritan’s were outcasts in Jewish society, particularly women who were among the lowest class distinction. The disciples wondered why Yeshua was even talking to her, but were afraid to ask Him. (John 24:27) Samaritans claim to be descendants of the Northern Israeli tribes as a distinct ethnicity with their own theological doctrines. From this encounter with Yeshua, we see that ethnicity and social norms connected with it were irrelevant. The woman first raised the issue saying, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:9-10) Yeshua, completely ignores her complaint regarding ethnic practices in a divided society.
Having grown up in the “civil rights” era and experienced desegregation enforcement, referred to as busing, I have understood “racism” from the ground level. Today in America, socialist humanist activists have successfully used racism as a political tool to divide America and further their communist aspirations through identity politics, social unrest, organized riots, and destruction of the rule of law. A collaborative Oligarchy of Media has dumped unending propaganda upon our society while censuring all reasoned and factual rebuttal, such that one might conclude black slavery ended yesterday and nothing has been done to address the issue. Some prominent black leaders/activists are complaining the LGBTQ community have co-opted and usurped their racist agenda against White people. There is definitely heated competition between various identity groups vying for special treatment and access to the Federal largesse.
What pastor Martin Luther King sought was a return to Yeshua’s teachings and behavior, so that prejudice and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity would be replaced by discernment of character and the intrinsic love and brotherhood of mankind, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, national origin, color, age or religion. These concepts were put into law in 1964, nearly sixty years ago, along with repealing separate but equal laws. The goal was not to establish favored classes who would receive preferential treatment and government funding, but an end to discrimination upon these factors. Instead, we have reached a point where the secular Government is trying to teach that every white person is a racist – an overt racist philosophy and action.
Only God can change the human heart. Yeshua knew there was no political solution and told Pilot so. (John 18:36) American law is no more effective in establishing righteousness than Jewish law, upon which it is based. (Romans 3:20) Yeshua relates to every person individually and He taught His followers to do the same. His message may go out to crowds and multitudes, but individually the indwelling Holy Spirit is the guarantee and enabler of salvation. Love is the only cure for racism, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, also see Col. 3:11-14)
