Your Right Against Offense

There has been for several decades an attempt by some to attack others who are accused of offensive words. The suggestion is that if someone offends you, you have been wronged and you have a right not to be offended. If this sounds reasonable to you, then you may be a Totalitarian, whether you know it or not. It may sound overstated, but the argument has been raised in Courts and continues today to be enforced by certain police jurisdictions. The most serious totalitarian act was during the Covid pandemic were a woman observed a couple picnicking in a public park without wearing face masks. Because she deemed them a certain threat to her and public health, she shot them with a pistol.

Arguments have been presented in the Supreme Court that atheists have a right not to be offended by religious monuments, slogans or proclamations of religious faith in government spaces. Today, LBGTQ activists march openly often in lewd, vulgar, perverse manner, without impunity. At one of these parades a man wearing a “Jesus” tee-shirt was arrested, presumably because he was offending the paraders.

Returning to sanity, no one has a right against being offended by someone else. Scripture says the message of the Cross of Christ is offensive to the pride of mankind. (1 Cor. 1:18-25) Evil people do not like their wicked deeds exposed or condemned, even as God has pronounced it in scripture. On the contrary, Believers suffer all sorts of slander and abuse from secular totalitarians who seek to deny their right to free speech and protected expression of religion as stated in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. Recently, a Basketball player was fired because he expressed his faith in Jesus Christ online. The owners felt such online comments could be offensive to the LBGTQ community or others who hate Christians. In a perspective opposite to legal and Constitutional protection, the Basketball player’s rights were denied, by hypothetical and non-existent rights of assumed others.

This is an on-going upside-down trend of our sick and demented secular society and political spheres. Righteousness and tolerance taught and explained in the Bible is being slandered, rejected and accused as something that must be eliminated from the public square and American society. It is a spiritual battle between Satanic forces who seek to kill, steal and destroy and the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ, Lord of heaven and earth. The end of the battle is foretold in prophetic scripture – God wins. (Revelation 19:11-16)
