In Zephaniah 1:12 a pronouncement is given upon those who are settled in complacency, who say in their heart, “The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil”.
This is an appropriate scripture for today as people, even those who believe in God, become complacent looking at and caught up in the world around us. Where is faith in God’s active and real loving-kindness, providence, sovereignty and compassion. As we repent and wait on the Lord in faith, He says, “I will leave in your midst a meek and humble people, and they shall trust in the name…of the Lord.” (Zephaniah 3:12).
A sample prayer of repentance:
God Almighty, King of the universe, you are loving to all you have made. Let everything that has breath praise you. Forgive me for believing lies about you; your nature, character, promises and faithfulness to your people. Help me return to trust and rely on you and every word that proceeds from you, irrespective of any circumstances. Set me firmly on the path following Yeshua Messiah. Thank you for your abundant grace, saving mercy, and wondrous acts of kindness toward your people everyday
