God raises people to authority for His purposes. He works His will through them. He grants riches to some that they may know that He is the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name, for His good purposes toward Israel, His people, even though they don’t acknowledge Him. He is God and there is no other. He made the light and darkness. He brings prosperity and creates disaster. The Lord does all things. “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it.” Isaiah 45:8.
Woe to those who quarrel with their maker; those who are nothing but broken scraps scattered upon the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, “What are you making?” “This is what the Lord says— the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.” Isaiah 45: 11-12.
The Lord of all, God Almighty, is too awesome and glorious, too terrifying and immense for you to behold as you are – in your weakness and sinful nature. “This is what the Lord says: ‘The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans— they will come over to you and will be yours; they will trudge behind you, coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other God. Truly, you are a God who has been hiding himself, the God and Savior of Israel.’ ” (Isaiah 45: 14-15).
He worked His Sovereign will through the nation of Israel. “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” (Rom. 15:4). He is working still today to purify a holy Church, the Bride of Christ. He is Sovereign over the nations and ruler of all. His ways and thoughts are beyond our comprehension. “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” (Rom. 11:33). God is able to preserve the righteous and at the same time keep the wicked for judgment. “Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.” (Jude 1: 5-6).
An amazing thing about this world in which we live is that so much reality is hidden from us. So much truth must be accepted by faith due to our weakness and fallibility; the lies and deception of the enemy, and the nature and purposeful will of God Almighty, creator of all. Billy Graham put it very well when he said, “Too often man tries to subject God to the analysis of the laboratory, but we can not put God in a test tube and say, ‘this is God’, any more than we can put a mother’s love in a test tube and say, ‘This is a mothers love’. We know that a mother’s love exist. So it is with the Sovereignty of God, the creation did not create itself by random chance. God is who He says He is in the Bible.”
The knowledge of God’s Sovereignty is a wonderful encouragement and comfort. It is central to the character and nature of God. Even though we can not understand everything that happens we can be sure that God is in control. Lord, God Almighty let your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
