Fear Not

Psalm 118:6-7
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?  The Lord is with me; he is my helper.”

Psalm 34:4
“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears.”

Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Psalm 23:4
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Mark 5:36
“Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’ ”

There are many verses in the Bible related to fear and how a Christian should never be in fear or be anxious as we live our life or even about our impending death.  We are called to live our life in peace with confidence and with a calm mind even in trying circumstances. The reason is that God is with us and nothing can happen to us outside His sovereign will.  If we are oppressed by fear due to life circumstances or a spiritual attack from Satan we need only to pray in faith to God to be freed from all fears and find the peace of God to guard our hearts and mind.  Even at death, God promises to be there to walk with us and comfort us.  What a glorious promise we can rely on!

The key to a worry free Christian life is to just believe.  Believe in our great, sovereign God who has our life and the circumstances we face in His hands.  “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10.
