Political Correctness In The First Century

You might think political correctness is a modern development created by modern thought and values of this superior generation. No, Solomon was right in his time, there is nothing new under the sun, political correctness included. Yeshua, (Jesus’ Hebrew name) observed in the leaders of His day, “They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”(Matthew 15:9) Even in the First Century men were practicing humanism, crafting and elevating their own rules above the truth of God’s word. It may be that much of the success America and other free nations down through history experienced was founded upon the wisdom of the Ten Commandments. These and other truths of Judeo-Christian faith are sound principles coming from God. Another time Yeshua taught the people regarding money, it’s deceitfulness and God’s ways. The Religious leaders sneered at His teaching as it exposed their corrupt practices. “He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.” (Luke 16:15)

God’s way is loving, but no like the love of this world which is selfish, lustful, and fleeting. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Cor. 13:4-7) These are Spiritual words with spiritual power and effect, so far beyond the reasoning and rationalization of men. God reigns and Yeshua, the Son of God, made Him known. He has revealed Himself in Creation, but will do much more in the future. “Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.” (Isaiah 52:8-20) The Humanists will see but not understand because they are blind and deaf to all things of the Spirit, but God’s children who live and move in the Holy Spirit will see and rejoice as God delivers Israel once again and causes them to recognize their Messiah. “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.” (Zech. 12:10)
