With God all things are possible, put another way, the impossible becomes reality. Our trouble is our duplicity and brokenness which is inherent in our failings. No one is perfect, but perfection is often required and always preferred. God demands perfection from us. In the beginning, He told Adam and Eve, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.” (Genesis 3:3) This was an absolute command without conditions and certain of consequences. The enemy lied to Eve regarding the consequences God described for breaking His command, suggesting He had been untruthful and Eve chose to disobey based on her observation the fruit looked good for food. (Gen. 3:11-19)
Ever since, the fall of mankind into sin/disobedience, the only absolutes have been about the certainty of our imperfections. No one is righteous or good. God gave Abraham and Moses laws which were to be obeyed by all Israelis. Thousands of years demonstrated no one could always obey God’s law. From paupers to kings they all were disobedient in one way or another, and disobedience always resulted in bad consequences, from disappointment, death, or exile into slavery by foreign nations. However prophets foretold of a coming Messiah who would bring deliverance, hope, and salvation to Israel.
Today, the whole world suffers under the certain consequences of sin/disobedience. Many try to cope through denial, (Agnosticism, Atheism, etc.), making up substitute laws of their own, (Humanism, Secularists, false Religion, etc.) or ignoring reality and plunging into every manner of wickedness, evil and dissipation. (Paganism, Profligates, Scofflaws, etc.) None of these coping methods deal with the fact of sinfulness we each intuitively understand in our conscience. It is possible to sear one’s conscience to the point of giving oneself over to a lie and become totally deluded. Vladimir Putin appears to be such an example, having destroyed the peaceful Ukrainian nation, but Hitler and his inner circle constitute the quintessential illustration.
Absolutes are discouraged in modern conversation by psychologists, politicians, business professionals, and communication experts to placate and persuade people with sophistry and subtlety. However, Yeshua, Messiah brought a solution to the world through His teaching, deeds, promises and sacrificial life. These have been miraculously recorded and preserved in the Bible as an irrefutable and undeniable message of God’s true nature, character, and love for mankind. The impossible task of redeeming and restoring mankind’s brokenness and barrier to relationship with God was accomplished by Yeshua Messiah, to all who believe upon Him and receive His unmerited gracious gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. This Spiritual impartation is life-giving and transforming with eternal effect and consequence, such that absolutes are our proclamation, “…extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”(Psalms 34:1,4-5) Will you join us who have found the Savior; simply ask any Believer and read the Bible yourself with an open heart. His love endures forever.
