Root of Bitterness

“Make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison” (Deut. 29:18). See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many” (Hebrews12:15) While rebuking Simon the Sorcerer, Peter tells him to repent of his wickedness, with an added insight: “I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin” (Acts 8:23) Simon desired to buy the power of the Holy Spirit to enhance his own career as a magician. Bitterness is a tool Satan uses to bring division among God’s people. When offenses are picked up rather than forgiven in grace towards one another, bitterness produces a poison that “defiles many.”

This is the spiritual situation we have seen around President Trump, who can be crude and vulgar at times. Trump has been himself cruelly and unjustly attacked, perhaps as viciously as any person in history. That is no excuse for vulgar responses, but no one is perfect, forgiveness is required by grace. A lack of forgiveness produces bitterness that corrupts the person who takes up offense. Consider John McCain who said over and again that he would vote against Obamacare, but dying with cancer he cast the deciding vote for Obamacare, just to spite Trump. Then consider Mitt Romney, who was himself unmercifully and unjustly attacked by the DemoMedia. Then, he took offense at Trumps crude remarks about his defeat and weak positions. Romney’s bitterness and desire for revenge against Trump was obvious and he followed McCains example by being the only “Republican” to vote to convict Trump, in his first impeachment. Today, we see another casualty of bitterness flopping around in the DemoMedia circus. An upstanding man of character, Mike Pence, could not withstand the scornful rebuke from Trump when he was asked to carry forward a response to election fraud, but refused. Irrespective of whether he could have or should have done as Trump requested, he took personal offense and let bitterness gain a foothold. He was convinced by “Never Trumper” or “RINO”groups, (like Simon founded upon pursuit of their own power) to speak out, indirectly opposing Trump and Conservatives who support him.

Mike Pence is being used by the DemoMedia as a snare for any who will join the bitterness parade, and help undermine the Conservative cause. Though Pence is usually careful with his words, he speaks as though the destructive killing Fascist riots, unconstitutional edicts of Biden; Pelosi’s fake impeachments; unjust ongoing fraudulent FBI investigations, and evidence of election fraud never happened. He talks in the midst of a blazing battle just as the enemy fires missiles and artillery into Conservative ranks, as though we merely have a difference of opinion. The DemoMedia is careful to avoid their cooperating agents in the Republican establishment, with whom Pence has found refuge, but his talk of politics as usual in a calm and cooperative nonpartisan approach is a joke to all of us engaged in this fight to preserve children from gender dystopia grooming in elementary schools; stave off FBI threats toward parents speaking out at school board meetings; those threatened with the loss of their jobs for standing against illegal mandates of experimental drugs which are not vaccines and do not prevent Covid or its spread; we who support police that have been assassinated, ridiculed, defunded and falsely accused for upholding peace, fighting crime and enforcing the law, while we are losing our rights of free speech and freedom of religious expression everyday. How many more potentially good leaders will fall under the enemy’s snare of a root of Bitterness?
