“It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.” (Acts 15:28-29)
New Believers from the nations where troubled by people who began saying that they must be circumcised and follow the law of Moses. The issue was elevated to the Apostles in Jerusalem for a response, which is quoted above. People today still try to load Believers down with laws that cannot produce righteousness. It was Peter who reminded the leaders that it was God who accepted the Gentiles by giving them the same Holy Spirit the Jewish Believers and Apostles had received. (Rom. 8:16) Moreover, it was pointed out that neither the Jews nor their ancestors had been able to keep the law. Scripture is clear that the power of salvation is through faith in Yeshua Messiah, His grace, sacrifice on the cross, evidenced by the impartation of the Holy Spirit. (Gal. 3:2-14)
Above, we have some fundamental requirements which preceded Moses law, participation in idolatry, blood, strangled meat (which is full of blood) and sexual immorality. Today, in modern society there is widespread idolatry and sexual immorality. Sexual immorality is obvious everywhere in pornography, entertainment and all the perversions promoted as normal by the woke community. Less obvious, but more prevalent is the idolatry of secular humanism which exalts human wisdom, will and rationalism as god alone. This is taught as “Science” and stands opposed to all religion. It is the power behind Evolution theory, Communism, Social justice, and all organizations opposing the one true God of the Bible, such as Planned Parenthood (abortion), Freedom from Religion, UN, WHO, WTO, much of the U.S. Federal Government and other Governments around the world.
In the end days, a one world Government will rise with a leader who will oppose all religion, particularly, the Congregation of Believers.(2 Thess. 2:4) It may seem far fetched now, but it is the natural culmination of trends clearly evident today. One thing restrains it, the Holy Spirit; “For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7) The Congregation of Believers are the Temple of God on earth. When it is caught up to Heaven, the enemy will be loosed upon earth. Salvation alone is in and from Yeshua, Messiah who will return to earth and conquer the Enemy and his followers. (2 Thess. 2:8-11) In the end God will reign supreme over Heaven and Earth.
