Identity in Messiah

The world is lost with no identity, but searching in deplorable delusion with wicked imaginations opposed to God’s grand design. Their end will be a selfish destruction and torment. Believers were no better to start, but in God’s grace our eyes were opened by faith. We accepted His gift of life and began to hear His loving Words of life. The transformation was like a dynamite explosion of life imparting power. It was a rebirth with Spiritual awakening and filling. A new reality of the invisible, unexplainable, Kingdom of God opened before us. Gradually and quickly various truths replaced lies, perceptions and questions. We began to embrace a new way, opposite from the worlds way. Yeshua taught, love your enemies and do good to those who oppose you. He said, “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.”

Eventually, we learn who we are as “Children of God.” We learn about our ancestors in the Faith, how they lived and became “Overcomers.” We are given a calling and charge that gives structure and meaning to our pursuits. (Eph. 5:2) We receive a golden command that guides all our responses with others. (Matt. 7:12) In resignation to our King, Yeshua, Messiah our old corrupted self is put to death, so He can set us free to follow Him and be changed into His likeness. (Col. 3:1-17)

All that God does in and through the Spirit’s connection and the new life of fatherly care, discipline, and love, brings an identity in Messiah. It is not based merely on thoughts or perceptions of who we may be, but both physical and spiritual reality of who God has and continues to make us. It will take a life time as He incorporates His Word in our hearts; roots out patterns of worldly thinking and replaces them with the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:3-10) A life-time is not long enough to become mature in the Spirit, but we press on to the high calling of being conformed into the Image of Yeshua.

Finally, our failures as broken humans and the process of God’s sovereign transformation through a life consecrated by and to Him cannot be seen physically, but will appear when we stand in His presence. (Jude 1:24-25) He made the earth in six days, but perfecting His Children in Yeshua is ongoing until the full number of those whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life are complete. Mankind, His highest creation, is being prepared for glory by and in Yeshua. Marvelous acts are yet to come, including victory over the enemy, sin and death, after a glorious Millennial Reign of King Yeshua.
