Israel’s Rescue

A flydubi airliner, full of Israelis was attacked by a terrorist co-pilot. The world news is full of accounts of individual bravery, courage and for many miraculous features of the thwarted hijacking. For those who love and support Israel it is cause for great rejoicing and gratefulness. I wonder about the thoughts and attitude of those who hate Israel. Is their hatred so deep that they mourn the failure of this terrorist attack? It shocked many of us when certain public statements were made celebrating the murderous assassination of Charlie Kirk. We haven’t heard any disappointment expressed from the antisemites and it would be equally shocking to do so, but I can imagine there are those rooting for terrorism to prevail against Israel. The same people assert that both Israel and America deserve destruction.

The potential dichotomy of opinion among observers of this thwarted terror attack reminds me of a principle revealed in scripture – God Wins Big. Israel was chosen by God to be the nation to which He would reveal Himself. They were given the Law, the Prophets, and the Messiah. Yeshua said,  “…salvation is from the Jews.” This refers to salvation, for everyone who believes comes to faith through Israel’s Messiah, Yeshua. (John 4:22, see Acts 4:12) As Israel trusted God, He gave them many great victories, some completely miraculous. When they turned away from God, He let their enemies prevail. There seems to be no middle ground regarding Israel, either people support and rejoice when they prosper or they hate them and seek their destruction. The same is true with respect to God and the Congregation of Believers.

In the end scripture describes the outcome all people. Those who believe in Yeshua will enter into rejoicing and paradise. “… ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” (Matthew 25:34) Those who don’t know Yeshua, reject Him and hate will be sent to torment “…’Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41) Today, those on these two different positions are moving further apart. Those in the middle are either accepting worldly ways or are accepting Yeshua Messiah as Lord and Savior. Where is your heart and mind? Are you against Israel and everything they represent, or did you see God’s hand in Israel’s rescue?
