The idea of a utopia on earth constructed by men is the silliest idea ever.  However long we have lived on earth there has been no utopia.  All the attempts by tyrants, communists, Emperors, dictators, and even well-meaning people can not create perfect order from the brokenness in this world.  It is frightening to consider that men exist who think they can create a utopia through their own wisdom.  This is pride and arrogance at its zenith.

In fact, there are many who believe a utopia is possible.  Secular Humanism teaches that the barrier to human utopia is religion and anyone who opposes secular humanistic reasoning.  They believe man alone is able to create utopia through reason and good intentions.  Many have faith in science as their new god.  I heard an interesting fact recently; meteorologist do not know how or why a cloud forms in a particular place. There is so much that science doesn’t know and can’t explain.  This is the same science that will construct their utopia.

These ideas are propagated by a great evil which declared, “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14: 14).  God created mankind in a paradise, but we were expelled after our disobedience, and we have been disobedient ever since, it is integral in our fallen human nature.  When all prisons are no longer needed and there is no crime, then we can talk about utopia.  The idea of a utopia created and ruled by man is paradoxical, like an oxymoron; flawed imperfect weak men constructing a perfect society filled with imperfect disobedient citizens. Nevertheless, dreamers and fools looked for the fountain of youth, as well.  Utopia on earth is an appeal by Evil promising a knock-off of the real and true heaven, which it can never deliver.  Through such lies it seeks to lure as many as possible into captivity and bondage.

Beware anyone who exalts man as his own god.  There are many deceivers in the world and they favor a secular god of humanist reason, so-called science, and notions of peace built upon a foundation of rebellion, pride, wickedness, and arrogance.  They believe humans are inherently good, in spite of 10,000 years of war, atrocity, genocide, crime, etc.  “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” (2 Thess. 2: 3-4).
