God is at rest from creation, but He is working His will in mankind to gather a people destined for glory and to be in relationship with Him in Heaven. At the outset, Man fell through disobedience and has suffered under the influence of the enemy, Satan, a rebellious being.
God is Sovereign and prepared everything in advance, including the redemption of Man, by sending His only Son as our savior. “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5: 17). Yeshua, (Jesus’ Hebrew name) is the Messiah/Savior who said, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” (John 4: 34).
God so loved the world that He sent His one and only son Yeshua to save all who believe in Him. “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” (1 John 3: 8). Yeshua brings eternal life, rather than death and destruction. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10: 10). The demons knew Yeshua and His authority. “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1: 24). God is greater than all and His plan for salvation through Yeshua cannot be thwarted. “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” (Romans 16: 20).
Yeshua came as our sacrificial lamb, paying the price for our transgressions. He said in prayer to The Father, “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.” (John 17: 4). As Believers we also have a role to fulfill. “Then they asked him, ‘What must we do to do the works God requires’ Jesus answered,’The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.’ ” (John 6: 28-29). Belief, trust, faith, and adherence to our Lord and Savior, releases His power in and through us. “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14: 10-14).
It is the Holy Spirit who dwells within every believer, who guides and enables God’s will in His people. “There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work…All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” (1 Corinthians 12: 6, 11). We can not claim anything ourselves, as all glory belongs to Him. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2: 10). “…For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Philippians 2: 13). God is working through His people, the body of Messiah.
At our best we are unworthy servants who have merely done our duty, but God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3: 16-17). The promises of God are amazing and they give us great hope and confidence. “…Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1: 6). Yeshua will prevail over the enemy, return to earth and finalize the fulfillment of every word of God. “Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.” (1 Corinthians 15: 24-25). Lord God Almighty we marvel and wonder at your work that is transpiring all around. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord for His wonderful works toward men.
