The Church of Satan came out against Texas’ law restricting abortion and in favor of abortion. God, the author of life, is opposed by the Satan who is for stealing, killing, and destroying. Satanic forces mark the end of a range of those opposed to God and His perfect, loving, will. Somewhere less pronounced, but still in opposition are many acts of men, based upon their faulty reasoning and action.
When Israel cried out to God while suffering under slavery in Egypt, God responded by sending them a deliverer, Moses. Moreover, He instructed Moses to tell the people He would be giving them land He had promised to their ancestor Abraham, a land flowing with milk and honey. When they reached the border of the promised land, they decided to send in spies to assess the situation. The spies confirmed the fantastic quality of the land, but opposed the belief that God could give them the land, as it would involve their military participation which they determined was woefully inadequate. In their reasoned analysis, based on their research, and the facts, God was horribly mistaken regarding their military capabilities.
This should be a preeminent lesson for the Congregation of Believers. Very often our participation is required in God’s plans and purposes. In many respects, He has graciously narrowed our involvement down to believing in the Messiah, His son, Yeshua, (Jesus’ Hebrew name). However, trust in our intellectual abilities often exceeds reasonable bounds and we doubt God’s ability, promise, our responsibility of submission and obedience, and cling to a rational analysis based on science, the facts, history, our physical senses, fear, or any number of excuses – we oppose God’s will.
This is why we have to wait, suffer, and change. Plan B is not as nice as God’s perfect will. Consider this, “Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.’ ” (Genesis 6:3) Have you considered the effects of contending and opposing the Holy Spirit? Is our lifespan connected with our level of surrender to God? When the Jewish Leadership arrested the Apostles they were given wise counsel, from one of their own members, “Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” (Acts 5:38-39)
Lord, Yeshua, keep us from relying upon our own reasoning and opposing your purposes.
