Prayer Debriefing 8

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (Ephesians 6:18) This Word of God is our guide, but God’s faithfulness encourages us to seek the Spirit’s heart for each follower of Yeshua, as we know we have that for which we asked. (Matt. 7:11; Rom. 8:26-27) My prayer is that you will stand firm in the Lord, unmoved by the tumult all around; that your family and fellow Believers resist the enemy and rejoice in the Lord your joy and hope. May the Lord give you times of refreshing with transforming worship that raises you into the presence of His glory and majesty. “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” (2 Samuel 22:17-20) It is God’s love and favor that sustains and supports you, and He has become the delight of your heart.

Lord, we know our sins are great, but your grace is greater. Help us to accept your forgiveness, rather than seek to achieve or even desire a righteousness independent of your sacrifice on the cross. The old hymn, “There is Power in the Blood” written in 1899, by Lewis Jones addresses our dilemma of desiring righteousness and power over sins burden, passion, pride, and our lack of obedience.

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

Refrain:
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

Lord, you are the way, truth, and life, forgive us for our failings and deliver us from any desire apart from you and the leading of your Spirit. Let our righteousness be in you alone.
