I work with wood, always have, even as a child. When I was very young, I found last years tomato sticks, cut off some sound pieces, planned, sanded and joined them together to make a small plank and painted a bird on it for my Mother. She hung it up in a corner of her kitchen where it stayed for fifty years. This is an example of repurposing wood. In a way all Believers are repurposed from what we or others imagined for us to God’s purposes. Each of Yeshua’s disciples were pursuing a life, when He called them to “Follow Me.” He told several that were fishermen, “I will make you fishers of Men.” Actually, they were repurposed into followers of a new covenant between God and Man. That agreement had been foretold thousands of years before, “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:31-33) He clarifies, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”(Ezekiel 36:26-27) This is His purpose that required replanting, resettling, and rebuilding which God did alone and for His own names sake.
This Sovereign act was too great for Israel alone, so He restored a remnant from the nations through Israel’s rejection of their Messiah and grafted those who Believe into Israel, reuniting humanity into “One New Man”. (Eph. 2) There is still much to be fulfilled, but the foundation has been laid with the Spirit’s impartation after Yeshua’s ascension. (John 16:7-11) Today, God is working regarding Sin, Righteousness and Judgment. Sin is not Believing Yeshua; Righteousness is Yeshua ascended at the right hand of the Father and Judgment is the condemnation of Satan. Even the Heavens and Earth will be repurposed. “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” (Isaiah 65:17) What was wrong, that required repurpose? The new Heaven and Earth will be a dwelling place where God and Man will be united eternally, free from sin and death. The Fall of man, was our own doing, but the reunification with our Creator God is His doing, and it is wonderful in our sight.
