“A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land: The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?” (Jeremiah 5:30-31)
The faithless men who have amassed wealth and spend it to fashion an idol in their image are leading the people astray. They can not make a cloud in the sky, or even understand how a cloud forms, much less can they make it rain. “Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, Lord our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.” (Jeremiah 14:22) These lost phantoms are a distraction, hinderance, diverting and obscuring wisdom, which begins with the fear of God and comes from Him alone. (James 1:5; Prov. 1:7, 2:6) Turn your heart to God and seek His favor in humility, repentance and submission.
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-30) Pray to God, confess your apathy with His ways, repent of seeking money and pleasure, instead of that which only he can give, peace, rest, satisfaction, fulfillment, faith, hope and love.
For those who stand firm in faith and question why the wicked seem to prevail – call out to God for revival across the land. Seek fervor and earnestness in prayer for revival led by the Holy Spirit. Seeking His face will involve turning away from anything that does not proceed from the Spirit. There is no need to seek righteousness or try to please Him with good deeds, these are gifts from Him as we surrender to His voice. “People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Then you will desecrate your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, “Away with you!” (Isaiah 30:19-22) Congregation of Believers, you are the habitation of God, the Holy Spirit, submit to His call to pray for revival fire.
