The Prince of this World

“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” (John 16:7-11)

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, the enemy got something out of it. Adam and Eve were to have authority in the Earth, but the enemy usurped the authority they relinquished in sin. Satan said to Yeshua while he was tempting Him, “The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.” (Luke 4:5-7)

Yeshua told this parable to the people, “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out. “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.’ “But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. ‘This is the heir,’ they said. ‘Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!” (Luke 20:9-16) God has not given up His authority over Creation and will hold murders responsible.

When Yeshua, the Son of God was sent into the world and was killed, Did Satan think He had obtained His position? Nothing is hidden from God, is Satan condemned as Yeshua said above, because he was complicit in killing Yeshua on the cross. Scripture says, “As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” (John 13:27) Satan moved Judas to betray Yeshua, leading to His crucifixion. Was Satan guilty of murdering Yeshua and subject to the requisite legal condemnation? If so, we are free from His devices and Yeshua has assumed authority over earth and mankind. In time the Enemy will be judged along with his followers by being condemned to Hell. We can have hope through Yeshua because God is just, loving and sovereign over all heaven and earth.
