I have been involved in a lot of church work my whole life, but I consider Yeshua to be everything and the hidden life in Him. I was part of the Jesus movement revival of the early 1970's and I have a heart for Israel.

True Confession

scan0021The Bible teaches and proves that nothing is impossible with God. (Mark 10:27). Evolutionists believe anything is possible with enough time and chance.  Flying enough flags for long enough will cause the threads of a flag to unravel and re-weave itself into a three-piece suit.  Given enough time a sunken ship will dissolve and rust down to produce  twenty-four lawn jockeys, three flying saucers, five golden rings, and a partridge in a pear tree.

I dreamed that my grand-daughter came up to my wife; she was about four years old and had curly dark auburn hair long and thick.  Since this does not describe any of my existing grand children we thought, maybe, this is a baby yet to be born.  How precious this child

One Caught in Adultery

790c1a45537771bbc69fc1c1b6552ffbIn John 8: 3-11, we read about the woman caught in adultery.

“The Pharisees  made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.  In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?’  They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.  But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him….”

We are told that this was a trap for Yeshua, if he failed to condemn her, they could rightly accuse Him.  He did not

Spiritual Authority

3c7349b44406a5a7689433cfd0f69565This is an extremely important topic that touches on rebellion, reliance on faith, judgment, the work of God, blessing and more.  A proper understanding of Spiritual Authority is critical to submission thereto. Most important is an understanding of the sovereignty of God for without this one may experience confusion, restlessness, and openness to deception by the enemy.  Because we are discussing a spiritual matter a fundamental knowledge of who and how the Holy Spirit deals with His people is relevant to the entire topic, e.g. the Spirit is contrary to natural worldly reason. So, Spiritual Authority is not based on conjecture and rational analysis, but by God’s anointing, and those under authority.

The scripture has

God’s Word

6531c025b611c78865fbc1d66d0a0d30Every word of God proves true. (Prov. 30:5).  We may not understand His every word in its entirety, today.  However He is able to make Himself known and we have no excuse for failing to acknowledging Him, even though our understanding may be  shallow.  Relying on the truth of His Word will bring light to our understanding, as we open our hearts to receive it in faith.  So, we begin with the knowledge of the creator God and inherently understand our weakness, fallibility, and sinfulness.  Yes, we have the knowledge of good and evil within us, even a small child can understand

The Works of God

flat800x800070f-u2Good works have been prepared in advance for believers to do. (Eph. 2:10).  No amount of good works will save a man.  “If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God.  What does Scripture say?  ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’  Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation.  However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.” (Rom. 4:2-5).

How are the good works

The Prophetic Gift

agabusThe Old Testament Scriptures includes many prophets of God leading to John the Baptist.  The prophets of old spoke much of the Messiah and His coming, with amazing specificity. All prophecy was given by God, and it is to be tested to make certain.  There were and remain false prophecies and false prophets.  A message from the Holy Spirit will not contradict the scripture.  Prophecy is for the encouragement and strengthening of the Church.

Agabus was a New Testament prophet. (Acts 11:28; 21:10).  The New Testament contains much about the administration of the gift of prophecy and states that it is to be desired.  It is not only foretelling a future event, but Holy Spirit inspired

Made In The Image Of God

id-picture-of-man1God is a three-part person, one God of three inseparable, yet distinct parts.  We are made in God’s image, we look like Him, and that image encompasses the trinity. (Gen. 1: 26-27; Gen 5:1; Gen. 9:6).  It might be that we are unique, as are other heavenly creatures and it may be that the human distinction is being a three-part being. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Ps. 139:13-16).

We do not always perceive ourselves either created in God’s image nor as having three inseparable parts.  The scripture says it was God’s idea and that He made us for fellowship with Him. (1 John 1:3; 1 Cor. 1:9).  God

Wrath and Fear

pilgrims-progress-18“John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers!  Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?” (Luke 3:7)

Pilgrim’s Progress, by John Bunyan is the most read book besides the Bible.  It was published in 1678 and has never been out of print.  It is an allegory about Christian who lives in, and subsequently leaves, the City of Destruction. Christian learns that the city will soon be destroyed and he urges his friends, neighbors, and family to flee the coming wrath.  They refuse his warning, seeing no sign of imminent danger, but Christian leaves on his own, although burdened with a load of sin.

This kernel of truth that Bunyan illustrates

God Can Be Inconvenienced

canaanite_womanI have wondered about Yeshua’s reply to His mother, “My hour has not yet come.” (John 2:4). Yes, God is perfect and His timing is perfect, but He is also forbearing, patient, and compassionate.  His forbearance is seen everyday as he supplies all the needs of the righteous and wicked alike.  God is patient to give every opportunity for all to repent of their sin and come to Him for mercy in Yeshua.(2 Pet. 3: 9).  His compassion is seen as Yeshua healed all who came to him.  God did not want Israel to have a king, because it was not best, but He allowed it and the consequences were not the best.  God gave David three opportunities

What The Church Needs

7-churches-of-revelationToday in America there is a wide variety of Churches.  Many non-denominational community churches have been organized since the 1970’s Jesus People Revival.  Some churches have exchanged their denominational name for a generic community name, yet they remain within their denomination.  Several entire denominations have split into a liberal branch and the traditional branch.  Many large churches are creating contemporary worship services with a more relaxed dress code, as an alternative to their traditional services.  All these events

It Is There In Heaven

falls-seven-timesC.S. Lewis wrote, “No amount of falls will really undo us if we keep on picking ourselves up each time.  We shall of course be very muddy and tattered children by the time we reach home. But the bathrooms are all ready, the towels put out, and the clean clothes in the airing cupboard.”

This image of entering heaven a muddy mess, to be received by the one well prepared and fully capable of cleaning us up, touched me deeply, as I considered the grace and love of God toward

New Answers

imagesPsychology is a favorite college class for many students, irrespective of their major field of study.  I have found it interesting; management, sales, and other fields incorporate aspects of it in their textbooks.  I discovered why this is true recently, when I wrote a book on my life story and asked my three children if they would read the first draft and provide feedback.  I followed up with each of them, to see if they had finished it; the first said, “No I’ve been too busy to finish it”, the next said, “I read some of it on vacation, but I seldom read

The Diligent Disciplinarian

0989c2afa746debcbf1a3ef6d15f607dAs parents we have to discipline our children and it is not a pleasant task, but we know it is necessary, at least generally.  There are times when we can be deceived or mislead to a different conclusion.  As a grandparent this is far more frequent.  My son, speaking of my grandson, said, “He’s smarter than you.”  This was after we discovered my grandson had leveraged information and the lack of it, to his advantage.  If we love our children we will discipline them.  Undisciplined children are unhappy in the long-term and can be very broken by a lack of boundaries and parental love that secures these boundaries.

There are no perfect parents and abusive parents are equally harmful to children, perhaps far more so, depending on the nature

istock_000002309744xsmallWhat an old-fashioned word, so religious, so pious, so self-depreciating.  Does this word have meaning in our current society?   John the Baptist came with a message of repentance to make way for the Messiah.  ” ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’…Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River…. Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.” (Matt. 3: 2,6,8).

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.  See what this godly sorrow

The Sky Is Falling

images“The sky if falling.”  Chicken Little uttered these words over and over and some began to believe her.  The lost (an acceptable biblical term referring to those who do not currently believe in God) spew forth a seemingly endless list of pending doom for this world.  Here is a brief incomplete list:

– Nuclear Destruction

– Over population growth

– Global climate change

– Asteroid collisions with earth

– Comet collision with earth

– World wide disease epidemics

– Starvation through genetic tampering

– Poisoning of all air and water

God’s Temple

incense-altarIsrael is an example to us today; all that happened, their choices, their delivery from enemies, their falling away from God, the building of the Temple, the Ten commandments, and all the rest.  We see in Israel God’s ideas delivered to them in great specificity and detail.  In regard to the temple, perhaps it seemed like King David’s idea at first, but God said no, and at the right time gave the plans to Solomon.  The temple was the dwelling place for God on earth.  In the temple were the, laver, the lamp, the show bread, and incense.  God’s presence was in the Holy of Holies, the innermost sanctuary

Your God Is Too Small – Part 2

This is a book by J.B. Phillips, a completion of comments about the book, specifically, Constructive.  Phillips takes a very apologetic approach assessing the characteristics necessary to validate the truth of his person as well as, His character.  An adequate God is in sufficient size and focus, meaning in sufficient detail for those who see.  There are several fundamental factors that would be inherent in a God who decided to become a human.  Phillips goes into these in some detail and his rationale is sound.  As it turns out Jesus fulfilled these conditions perfectly.

Phillips addresses certain basics

Yeshua’s Purpose, in Part

unknownI’ve been thinking of a question once posed to me, “Do you think, Yeshua came to start a new religion?”  I think the question left off an unspoken premise, “Didn’t he just clarify and qualify Judaism, such that if we merely follow Judaism, as it was intended, we will be saved.” Here is my answer, in short, and consequently to that extent incomplete.

Yeshua did not teach religion of any sort, because Religion has to do with Man’s attempt to reach God, whereas Yeshua

Holy Spirit Basics, Part II

gifts1The gift of speaking in tongues is a lesser gift, (1 Cor. 14:5) but it seems to create more debate than any.  Nevertheless scripture says, “…do not forbid speaking in tongues.” (1 Cor. 14:39).  Also, “If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.” (1 Cor. 14:27).

The Apostle Paul said, “I speak in tongues more than all of you…” (1 Cor. 14:18).  But he qualified this by stressing that it was mental understanding that brings encouragement

Holy Spirit Basics, Part I

gifts_of_the_spirit-1When we consider the Holy Spirit we need to remember that God is one inseparable God, such that there is no conflict or discrepancy between the Spirit, the Word – Yeshua, and the Father. (Deut 6:4).  However, there are vast differences among those who make up the church, about the Holy Spirit.  There are fundamental truths about the Godhead that are undeniable and must be accepted by all Christians, for example, the substitutionary death of Yeshua for the remission of sins, the resurrection, the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit

Two Responses to Yeshua

livingwater_altlessred“Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed.  ‘Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?’ they asked.  ‘Isn’t this the carpenter’s son?  Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?  Aren’t all his sisters with us?  Where then did this man get all these things?’  And they took offense at him.  But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.’  And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matt. 13:54-58).

Contrast this with the Samaritan woman

Faith and the Drink Offering

wedding-at-canaThink about Yeshua’s first public miracle, turning water into wine.  “When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’  ‘Woman, why do you involve me?’ Jesus replied. ‘My hour has not yet come.’  His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ ” (John 2:3-5).  Mary’s faith was assurance, not even requesting what should be done, but making the situation known and alerting the servants to be ready.  Mary must have known that Yeshua already knew her heart

Holy Spirit In Prayer

elishaburningchariotsAgreement is important in prayer.  Agreement first must be with God’s will.  Agreement is also available from the Word of God – when we pray scripture.  Recently, I had a need in my family, it was known by others and seemingly getting more urgent.  I didn’t have faith to say anything, and I knew that words outside the Spirit’s leading could do harm, rather than good.  I began to see prayer, not as a final desperate last resort, but as a place to stand in faith.  I carried this burden to Yeshua, who stands ever interceding for us. (Rom. 8:34). In Him, I found agreement as if we were praying together for release, for healing, for a victory over the enemy.  Then the Holy Spirit
